ANAHEIM - Nebraskans take note: A group of hundreds walked away from Knott’s Berry Farm on Thursday having minted a world record for the number of people husking corn at once. To certify the record, Knott’s needed at least 250 people. A crowd about a hundred more than that gathered at Calico Square before the event, waving their soon-to-be husked ears of corn in a scene that more closely resembled a Midwestern postcard than a Southern California theme park. ANAHEIM – An American flag draped over his back, Yaman Kahf stood with hundreds of protesters Sunday, roaring a message of solidarity from Orange County’s Little Arabia to the blood-stained streets of Syria. ”The important thing is that the people over there need to know that they’re not alone,” said Kahf, a Garden Grove resident. The rally at Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue drew more than 300 people, all expressing hope Syria will be the latest Middle East country to witness the toppling of a long-reigning autocracy.
